Perhaps a bit more "Adult" than the Saturday Morning Cartoons screening, these videos showcase some top-notch animations that would play for the after hours crowd.

Black Joe Lewis & The Honeybears "PTP" Directed by Roger Haus
Black Joe Lewis & his Honeybears performing PTP while a girl dances around on a pair of roller skates. It’s a groovy track completely animated rotoscopiating in a traditional way. More than 2000 frames drawn and colored by hand in two months.

The Shovels "Judy" Directed by Jeroen Aendekerk and Dorien Smeets
Inspired by Terry Gilliam's Monty Python and The Beatles Yellow Submarine.
Judy is a spacetrip about finding and losing love, forever.
By using the technique of collage animation, we created a weird experimental space landscape with realistic looking elements in strange proportions and combinations.

"Black Bird" Directed by Haonan Wang
The journey of a man escaping the concrete jungle of the modern city with help from spiritual black birds.

I have always been rather interested in animation and have been wanting to combine animation and live action for a long time; and I think for me, this experimentation on the 'Black Bird' project had broken the boundaries of film as it created an unique expression.
For the project itself, I wish to discuss the relationship between cities and people, and to raise the question of under the circumstances of high-speed developing cities and economy, how would we face the environment we live in as well as the nature itself.

SIAMES "The Wolf" Directed by Rudo Company and Fer Suniga
“The Wolf” is an animated Music Video for argentinian band SIAMES. Produced independently by Buenos Aires based studio Rudo Company, every frame has been handcrafted in traditional 2d animation with great effort and love. The whole video has been made entirely by three people: two lead animators, and one assistant animator. From initial rough to final clean up, each take has been animated by a single person to maintain the mood, the style and the vision of that artist.
Inspired in japanese animation, we tried to follow an animation technique commonly known as “Sakuga”, in which the quality of the animation improves drastically to match the dramatic intensity of the moment. For that reason we took detailed and excessive care of every frame in the most intense parts of the video.
We hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed doing it.

The Aprons "Fear of Heights" Directed by Benjamin Esterlis
About the music video: A fantastic voyage to defy fears, gravity & death.

About the production of this video: this is an independent music video for an indie dream-pop Israeli duo - most of the shooting [especially the underwater parts] were filmed guerilla style at a various public pools in Tel-Aviv area so most of the post-production was about "erasing" bystanders & other swimmers from the finished frames :)

The Deer - "Do Return" Directed by Grace Park
This stop motion animation depicts a civilization consumed by natural forces. Made from paper and stained glass, the tiny city is destroyed by plants, beehives, and wind. It features a trio of dancing puppets, an animated stained glass EQ meter, and several rotating paper cityscapes. It was shot over two months with a Canon DSLR by the band's frontwoman.

Man, Woman, Friend, Computer "Exordium" Directed by Yuliya Tsuker
Exordium is the short version of the extended video "Exordium/Outgrown" (14:35). The film relates a narrative wherein a spaceman crashes on the moon, longingly remembers his lover, has difficulty sleeping, and acclimates himself to his new, strange surroundings. Meanwhile, back on earth, his lover tries to knock the earth out of orbit to get his attention in the night sky. Shot entirely with marionettes constructed from raw materials and set against a fantastical world (also constructed with raw materials and found objects). All music is written, performed, and recorded by Thomas Echols (Man, Woman, Friend, Computer)
